Specialist investment firm Milford has unveiled a new suite of funds for the Australian market, marking an expansion of its domestic and global investment offerings. This move follows extensive consultations with asset consultants and advisers to identify key market opportunities and address demand gaps where Milford’s expertise and investment philosophy could add significant value.
The three new funds, set to launch throughout 2025, will focus on generating returns from Australian and global equities, as well as corporate bonds. This strategic addition aims to cater to the evolving needs of advisers and investors, while tackling the investment challenges currently faced in the market.
In early 2024, Milford initiated an in-depth discovery process, engaging quantitative researchers alongside a panel of consultants and advisers to assess strategic investment concepts. These concepts were designed to fill gaps in the market and align with Milford’s track record of success.
Kristine Brooks, Chief Country Officer and Executive Director at Milford, commented on the process, saying, “Our extensive engagement with advisers and researchers allowed us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of market needs. We identified key areas where there was an unmet demand for investment products and substantial opportunities to create value.”
Brooks continued, “The result of this process is a set of new funds that align with Milford’s core capabilities in active management, and which will provide advisers and investors with attractive options for capital growth.”
This new offering builds upon the firm’s established suite of funds, including the highly successful Milford Dynamic Small Companies Fund, which targets small- to mid-cap Australian equities. The fund aims to outperform the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index over the minimum recommended investment period. Brooks noted, “While the Dynamic Small Companies Fund is still on its investment journey, we are pleased with its strong performance to date.”
Milford also manages the Milford Australian Absolute Growth Fund, which invests in a diversified mix of predominantly Australian equities, with selective exposure to international equities and cash. Additionally, the Milford Global Opportunities Fund focuses on global equity securities that are attractively priced.
As part of its strategy to streamline its offerings, Milford will phase out two of its existing funds—the Diversified Income Fund and Global Real Asset Fund—to allocate more resources to these new strategies.
Founded in New Zealand in 2003, Milford was established by a group of experienced investors seeking to create a world-class investment partnership for local investors. The firm expanded into Australia in 2014 with an office in Sydney, and now operates additional offices in Melbourne and Brisbane, serving advisers across the country.
