Legacy Health and Regence BlueCross BlueShield, a major medical insurance provider, have reached a new contractual agreement, ensuring continued in-network coverage for Legacy Health facilities and providers. The announcement was made by Legacy Health on Sunday following negotiations between the two entities, which commenced last November.
With Legacy’s previous contract with Regence expiring at the close of Sunday, the renewal secures ongoing access to care for Regence and other BlueCross BlueShield members. Merrin Permut, Vice President and Chief Population Health Officer at Legacy Health, expressed satisfaction with the resolution, emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted access to trusted healthcare services for patients. Permut conveyed gratitude towards patients and communities for their patience throughout the negotiation process, as well as appreciation for the dedication shown by caregivers in supporting patients during this period.
Assuring patients of continued seamless care, Legacy Health confirmed that scheduled appointments should proceed as planned. Those who had previously canceled appointments due to uncertainty surrounding the negotiations were encouraged to contact Legacy to reschedule.
In response to the agreement, a spokesperson from Regence BlueCross BlueShield expressed satisfaction with Legacy Health’s decision to remain in-network, acknowledging the uncertainty faced by some Regence members during the negotiation period. The spokesperson highlighted the collaborative effort between Regence and Legacy leadership to establish sustainable reimbursement rates, ensuring ongoing access to essential healthcare services for members and customers. Looking ahead, Regence affirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with Legacy to uphold accessible healthcare provision within the community.
