In a move signaling its ambition for global expansion, Hana Bank, one of South Korea’s leading commercial banks, inaugurated the “Hana Infinity Seoul” dealing room in Seoul on Wednesday. Spanning the fourth and fifth floors of the bank’s headquarters in Jung-gu, central Seoul, the new facility covers an impressive 2,096 square meters and accommodates 126 traders, making it the largest of its kind in the country, according to bank officials.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of prominent figures including Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo, Financial Services Commission Chair Kim Joo-hyun, Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Bok-hyun, HD Hyundai Chair Kwon Oh-gap, and other notable industry dignitaries.
Noteworthy among the features of the new facility is its state-of-the-art infrastructure, highlighted by a remote control system for all computers, ensuring a seamless and stable environment conducive to uninterrupted trading operations.
At the ceremony, Hana Bank introduced its latest initiative, “New Hana Dealing Room 2.0,” aimed at bolstering Korea’s capital market by establishing a 24-hour global foreign exchange platform. This initiative seeks to attract increased foreign investment into the domestic market.
As part of this endeavor, the bank outlined plans to establish a treasury center with around 10 professionals at its London subsidiary in the latter half of the year. Furthermore, it aims to expand this center into a global hub connecting strategic locations such as Seoul, Singapore, and New York. This expansion is geared towards fostering closer engagement with overseas investors and identifying new opportunities.
Commenting on the significance of the new dealing room, Chairman Ham remarked, “It represents more than just the creation of a 24-hour trading space free from physical constraints. It signifies a pivotal moment for Hana Bank as it solidifies its core competency in foreign exchange competitiveness.”
He further pledged, “We remain committed to enhancing services for foreign investors in the local market and to contributing to the development of the Korean capital market and financial industry.”
The unveiling of the “Hana Infinity Seoul” dealing room underscores Hana Bank’s commitment to innovation and its determination to play a leading role in the global financial landscape.
