Applications are now open for Round 16 of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF), a key bilateral initiative supporting collaborative science and technology research. The program offers grants ranging from $200,000 to $1 million per project, with a total allocation of $4 million for this round.
According to federal industry minister Ed Husic, the funding will support joint research projects, workshops, fellowships, and institutional partnerships across several critical fields, including:
- Critical minerals processing technologies
- Quantum computing and communications
- Remanufacturing and electronic waste recycling
- Biomanufacturing for industrial and consumer products, such as biofuels and biochemicals
- Agricultural biotechnology for improved productivity and climate resilience
- RNA vaccines and biotherapeutics for immunotherapy
Husic emphasized the program’s role in strengthening ties between Australia and India through scientific collaboration. “Countries that work together to solve common problems become closer, as this successful program has demonstrated for nearly two decades,” he said.
The AISRF, Australia’s largest bilateral science initiative, is administered by the federal Department of Industry, Science and Resources. Husic expressed his commitment to expanding the program, reinforcing its importance in fostering global innovation and partnership.
