Billionaire investor Mike Novogratz and Pantera Capital founder Dan Morehead recently joined the Galaxy Brain podcast to discuss the staying power of Ripple’s XRP and Cardano (ADA) in the cryptocurrency market.
XRP and ADA’s Early-Mover Advantage
Novogratz highlighted that both XRP and ADA benefited from launching in an era with fewer competitors, allowing them to build strong communities. “They started early when there were not as many choices, and they built communities,” he noted, adding that projects lacking real-world utility will struggle with long-term sustainability.
Despite previously criticizing both tokens, Novogratz has shifted his stance on XRP. Earlier this year, he expressed support for its accessibility, emphasizing that anyone should be able to purchase the Ripple-affiliated asset.
XRP’s Market Strength and Loyal Following
Currently, XRP ranks as the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, surging to $157 billion after a remarkable fourth-quarter rally in 2024. Novogratz likened the passionate XRP community to Tesla’s early fanbase, which championed the company’s vision despite skepticism from Wall Street analysts.
XRP has long been at the center of controversy, facing both unwavering support from its community and sharp criticism from detractors. Even after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Ripple, its supporters remained committed, aggressively promoting its mission to revolutionize cross-border payments. Social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok became battlegrounds where XRP advocates shared memes, hashtags, and messages reinforcing Ripple’s vision of fast, low-cost international transactions.
With influential investors like Novogratz now voicing optimism, XRP and ADA may continue to hold significant positions in the evolving crypto landscape.
