Manulife Investments has unveiled the Manulife Global Semiconductor Opportunities Fund in Hong Kong, aiming to capitalize on the growth of the semiconductor and AI ecosystem. The newly launched fund will focus on actively investing in semiconductor-related stocks on a global scale.
This launch follows a recent interview with Ryan Davies, Senior Portfolio Manager at Manulife Investments, where he expressed his optimism about the continued growth of semiconductor stocks. “Semiconductors are the backbone of modern technology, driving progress in AI, automation, and digital transformation,” Davies remarked. He emphasized that as AI adoption accelerates across industries, demand for semiconductors will expand, with increasing applications in data centers, edge computing, and AI-powered consumer devices.
While recognizing the dominance of mega-cap semiconductor firms, Davies highlighted significant opportunities in smaller, under-researched companies that offer differentiated technologies and possess strong competitive advantages.
The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)-authorized fund will be available to investors through Manulife’s InvestChoice online platform, offering a flexible way to access the fund.
Grace Ho, Head of Retail Wealth Distribution and Direct Digital Business, Asia at Manulife Investments, commented on the increasing investor interest in thematic funds. “Semiconductors have emerged as a key theme in the AI revolution,” she said. “Through InvestChoice, we enable investors to gain exposure to leading semiconductor companies and the broader AI-driven ecosystem, backed by our active management strategies.”
With its strategic focus on the semiconductor sector, the fund positions itself to benefit from the ongoing AI-driven technological advancements, providing investors with an opportunity to diversify their portfolios with exposure to this pivotal sector.
