Taiwan’s stock market closed higher on Monday, with the Taiwan Weighted Index rising 2.78%. Strong gains in the Plastic, Transport, and Other Electronic sectors pushed shares up.
The top performers of the session included Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which surged 10.00%, adding 2.25 points to close at 24.75. Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708) also gained 10.00%, rising 6.10 points to finish at 67.10, while Wistron Corp (TW:3231) saw a 9.99% increase, up 8.20 points to reach 90.30.
On the downside, Lung Ming Green Energy Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) fell 9.95%, dropping 2.05 points to 18.55. Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) saw a 9.91% decline, losing 0.99 points to close at 9.00. Answer Technology Co Ltd (TW:3528) dropped 9.44%, down 5.90 points to 56.60.
The number of declining stocks exceeded advancing ones, though no specific count was provided. Microelectronics Technology Inc hit a 5-year low, falling to 9.00 after a 9.91% drop.
In commodities, crude oil for May delivery increased slightly by 0.08%, reaching $61.55 per barrel. Brent oil for June delivery rose by 0.06% to $64.80, while June Gold Futures gained 0.16%, trading at $3,249.76 per ounce.
The USD/TWD exchange rate increased 0.35% to 32.47, while TWD/CNY remained steady at 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.58%, settling at 99.31.
