Frankfurt, Germany – On Tuesday, the German stock market experienced a downturn in key indices, driven primarily by losses in the Construction, Software, and Chemicals sectors.
At the close of trading in Frankfurt, the benchmark DAX index recorded a decrease of 0.54%. Simultaneously, the MDAX index dipped by 0.42%, while the TecDAX index saw a more significant decline of 0.65%.
Among the top performers on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which saw a notable increase of 1.96%, gaining 0.19 points to close at 9.67. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) also had a strong showing, with a rise of 1.27%, adding 3.20 points to reach 255.00. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) joined the list of top performers with a gain of 1.26%, closing at 208.80 after an increase of 2.60 points.
On the flip side, the worst performers on the DAX included MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which saw a significant decline of 6.89%, losing 12.60 points to close at 170.15. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) fell by 3.26%, shedding 11.00 points to end the day at 326.80. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) also experienced a dip, falling by 3.03% or 5.00 points to reach 160.00.
The MDAX saw HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) as its top performer, with an impressive rise of 8.18% to close at 32.01. Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) also delivered strong results, posting a 3.61% increase and settling at 1.77. Vitesco Technologies Group AG (ETR:VTSCn) added 1.47% to its value, closing at 76.15.
However, the MDAX had its share of underperformers, with Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) experiencing a 6.34% decline, closing at 104.90. Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) followed suit with a drop of 4.97%, closing at 58.18, while Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) ended the day with a 4.15% decrease, closing at 26.13.
Within the TecDAX, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) emerged as the top performer, rising by 3.61% to close at 1.77. Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) also performed well, posting a 1.76% increase and settling at 30.13. United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) gained 1.40% to close at 18.80.
On the downside, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) continued to face challenges, with a decline of 4.97%, closing at 58.18. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) followed with a 3.26% drop, ending the day at 326.80, and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) saw a 2.72% decrease, closing at 214.50.
Overall, decliners outnumbered advancers on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, with 365 stocks closing lower, 269 stocks higher, and 106 stocks remaining unchanged.
Notably, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) reached all-time highs, gaining 1.26% to close at 208.80. In contrast, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) achieved 52-week highs, rising by 8.18% to 32.01, while Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) experienced a drop to 5-year lows, declining by 4.15% to 26.13.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, increased by 1.67% to 15.25.
In the commodities market, Gold Futures for December delivery decreased by 0.64%, or 12.55 points, to reach $1,934.65 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, in the oil sector, Crude oil for delivery in October surged by 2.28%, gaining 1.99 points to reach $89.28 per barrel. The November Brent oil contract also saw a rise of 1.85%, or 1.68 points, trading at $92.32 per barrel.
In currency markets, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged at 1.07, while EUR/GBP showed minimal movement, remaining unchanged at 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.19%, closing at 104.39.
